tengo un hermano con VIH tiene 43 años desde el año 87 le detectaron la enfermedad y recien el dia de hoy 28.05.09 empezo su tratamiento con duovir y efavirenz pero el problema es que la enfermera nos dijo que el tenia 91 de defensas y el doctor nos dijo que su cd4 es de 156 y carga viral 159 y hemoglobina 11.9 y el doctor dice que el duovir produce anemia no entiendo porque le receto esa medicina y quisiera saber cuanto tiempo tiene que pasar para que le haga efecto la medicina y si es posible que recupere su peso porque perdio 6kilos ya que tuvo diarrea el pesaba 56 y ahora 50.
realmente estoy muy preocupada.

Hola hermana preocupada,
Te entiendo: uno de los efectos secundarios potenciales de zidovudina (uno de los dos componentes de Duovir) es la anemia. Ya que tu hermano ya sufre de la anemia (una hemoglobina de 11.9 es baja en los hombres) no parece que Duovir sea la mejor candidata para él. Afortunadamente, hoy en día existen muchas otras alternativas que no tienen la anemia como un efecto secundario potencial.
En cuanto a tu pérdida de peso de 6 kilos asociada con un ataque de diarrea, no hay ninguna razón por la que tu hermano no debería poder recuperar este peso ahora que se ha pasado la diarrea.
